"Today our studio had the chance to meet up with Jesko Fezer and take a personal tour of the recently completed R50 Baugruppen. We arrived in light rain. The humble, DIY nature of the building confused many students who seemed to wonder, where is architecture was? Having studied Baugruppen developments for a few years, I had many questions for Jesko. And it was great hearing a personal account of the process behind this cooperative developments. He gave us a full tour, including through his personal apartment. The only area we were not able to access was the mixed-use space on the ground floor. The residence of R50 decided to unofficially house a group of refugees. That summer refugee migration to Germany was at its highest levels."
